awards carry a cash component of Rs.5 Lacs each, a commendatory
citation and a memento. Nominations for the awards are invited
from all over the country through advertisements in national
newspapers, in English and Regional languages and through
letters addressed to leading public figures in the fields
of politics, public administration, civil service, education
and the like. Copies of the advertisement as also the copy
of the letters addressed to various prospective sponsors are
available in the Website. Sue-moto, nominations are also accepted
though self nominations are rejected. These nominations are
initially short listed in terms of the guidelines prescribed
for the purpose and frivolous nominations are weeded out.
The response to our request for nomination is very heart warming.
Judged by the increase in the nomination received for the
award over the years, the Foundation feels justified in its
initiative for recognizing these individuals and institutions
engaged in serving their fellowmen.
